Collection
In order to provide customized information and services, we
collect users' contact information (email address, phone number)
and profile information (zip codes, the nature of their businesses
and their communications needs). To register, users will be
asked for their e-mail address, zip code and the first six digits
of their phone number. When someone orders a service, they are
required to answer certain questions (name, mailing address,
phone number, email address, average monthly bill) in order
for the service provider to provide the requested service. On
the "Contact Us" form, users are asked for their name, mailing
address, email address, and phone number, but only the email
address and phone number are required fields. Service Providers
are asked their company name and website.
Disclosure
We will not sell, trade or disclose "user identifiable" information
collected at this site (such as a user's name, postal address,
email address or complete telephone number) to anyone, unless
required to do so by law (for example, in response to a court
subpoena.) We may share other information collected at this
site (such as the area code and prefix of a user's telephone
number) with service providers in order to generate meaningful
proposals for service. No other personal information is shared
with any external parties, and it is impossible for service
providers to link the portion of the phone number to a specific
user. No personal information is shared until the user decides
to sign up for a service and then their information is shared
only with the service provider that the user has chosen. We
will share aggregate information collected at this site - in
other words, information that is not "user identifiable" - with
service providers or other interested parties.
Use
We may rely on users' contact information collected at this
site to get in touch with them when necessary. This would be
necessary to notify users about bids or issues regarding their
account, and would be done via email, if possible, or by telephone.
We use users' IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our
server and to administer our website. Other user information
collected includes browser type, domain name, and access profiles.
None of this information will be linked to any personal information.
We use "cookies" (small text files written to the user's computer's
hard drive that can only be read by our server and are not able
to read anything stored on the user's hard drive) so that we
can remember something about users at a later time. These cookies
are safe, and are only used to enhance the user's experience
on the web site by delivering content specific to his or her
interests. These "cookies" keep track of users' shopping cart,
login name and password, "click stream data" (the usage patterns
of users on our website), and the users' personal preferences
("I am a home office user", e.g.) If a user chooses to set their
browser to reject cookies, there will be no data prepopulation
in the forms on our site, and no easy auto-entry into a personalized
version of our website.
Credit Checks
When a user requests a bid for service and AHC must submit
the relevant information to various service providers, we first
submit the information to a third party in order to validate
their business information. Such information will not be used
for any purpose beyond this validation.
Supplementation of Information
Then a credit check takes place, the users' profiles are enhanced
with demographic information given to us by the third party
conducting the credit check. AHC may use this information in
order to provide the user with content that may be of specific
interest based on this demographic information.
Linked Sites
This site contains links to other sites. AHC is not responsible
for the privacy practices or the content of such websites. We
encourage users to read the privacy statements of these other
web sites since the privacy practices of the linked web sites
may differ from AHC.net.
Security
This site has security measures in place to protect the loss,
misuse and alteration of the information under our control.
Access to personal user data will be given to AHC employees
only on a "need-to-know" basis--such as Customer Service. All
employees with access to user information will be properly trained
about AHC's security policies and practices. All data, including
sensitive information such as credit card numbers, social security
numbers and personal information, is transferred over encrypted
channels and stored on secured network segments on secured systems.
AHC will continue to conduct internal audits of its security
systems and make all necessary enhancements to ensure the safety
of the website and its users.
Opt-Out
Our site provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving
communications from us at the point where we request information
about the visitor (during registration). In addition, all communication
sent to users by AHC will include a link enabling users to discontinue
any further such communication.
Updating User Information
There will be a "User Profile" link on the web site where users
can view and update their pertinent personally identifiable
information. A username and password are required to access
this information.
Notification of Changes to Our Privacy
Practices
AHC will inform all users via web site posting and email if
there is a change in our privacy practices.
